David Sims
David Sims begun working as a photographer in 1989 after a number of years assisting his first editorial stories appeared in the face and i-d and his defiantly casual grunge style soon became recognized. It was at this time he shot what was to become a very influential campaign in his career for Yohji Yamamoto. This lead to the signing of a one year exclusive contract with Harper’s bazaar (USA) in 1993 and the Commissioning of the first campaign for Calvin Klien.
In 1994 he was awarded young fashion photographer of the year by the festival DE La Mode and open a one man show at Zwemmers gallery in London. A year later he was awarded photographer of the year ( festival de la Mode) and he has since gone on to contribute to a number of exhibitions including the exhibition of contemporary photography at V&A. Isolated heros with a raf Sinons at Emily Tsingou Gallery and Roses at Visionaire which included producing a limited edition book of the show. His pictures also appear in the permanent collections at the take modern and the V&A.
Daivd’s Advertising Client includes fashion brands Jil Sander, Balenciaga, Benetton, Strencasse, L’oreal, Prada, Gap, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gap, Givenchy, Boss, Levis, Rimmel, and Burberry amongst others. He has also created advertising images for Fragrance brands such as Calvin Klien, Jil Sander, Marc Jacobs Stella Mccartney.
His Work continues to appear in magazine such as (USA) vogue, W, magazine, French Vogue, Italian Vogue, V magazine, and self Service. Outside of fashion David lives with his partner and two childern, he is an avid surfer spends a lot of his free time down in Cornwall.
